“Groove Evolution Music Fest” provides performance opportunities for new artists and raises awareness for growing, green, responsible corporate brands by producing regional variety concerts that benefit non-profit organizations and showcase cutting edge talents who fuse genres, while partnering with company brands who display environmental and social responsibility.
“Groove Evolution Music Fest” has been producing events in New York City since Winter 2009. Organizations that have been honored through these events are Artworks for Youth, Haitian Orphans Wish and Big Brothers Big Sisters of New York City. Businesses who have partnered with the festival are Cheap Jacks Vintage Store in NYC, Tribeca Smiles Dental, New York Costumes. Groove Evolution Music Fest aims to expand our list of sponsors. Venues where the festival has been held are Don Hill’s, Santos Party House and a 540 capacity boat named the Queen of Hearts which cruises around Manhattan on the Hudson River. Top notch, unique DJ’s, bands, singers, artists and other performers have set these events apart from other shows in NYC. On top of the performances, the audiences gets to enjoy a dance party, temporary body art and contests. In May 2010, a themed costume element was added to the party description and proved to be a hit amongst patrons. The first theme for the Fantastic Voyage boat party was a “Gilligan’s Island/Good Times” TV era hybrid. The next event scheduled during Mercedes Benz Fashion Week September 2010 will have a chic movie spy theme and include a runway exhibition of regional fashion designers.

“GROOVE EVOLUTION MUSIC FEST” is a live music event in NYC featuring progressive bands with a statement from all genres, presented by Roc-N-Roll Disco.
This is a local NYC music series with the purpose of donating to and promoting local and international non-profit organizations in their effort to improve, inspire, enlighten and motivate people to act on their visions and passion for a better world.
The indie music scene has sprouted an influx of genre fusions. There are many amazingly talented bands on the rise that deliver an electrically contagious style of music that rebels against stereotypical labels – yet appeal to all types of music lovers. These artists reach the “crossover” crowd: a group of eclectic people that love all types of music whether it be Alternative or Urban. They have an open mind that refuses to be force fed the hormone injected, pesticide drenched music created by formulas. Our audience wants raw, organic, individual music of substance and GROOVE. Music that raises awareness for a greater cause and purpose.
It will involve bands, singers dance troupes, actors and poets. The event will take place in NYC featuring progressive bands with profound statements from the rock, alternative, electro, funk, reggae and hip hop genres.

Q. What band genres will be considered to perform at GEM Fest?
A. Any music with a groove. We prefer bands but will consider select artist with CD or DJ accompaniment. We are accepting submissions from all styles and genres and are especially interested in acts that defy genre! We exclusively accept submissions through Sonicbids: Click Here to Submit through SonicBids
Groove Evolution Music Fest Presents: Fantastic Voyage 2010 Submissions on Sonicbids

Q. How often will GEM Fest take place?
A. It will happen approximately once every three (3) months. As we continue, the festival scope will expand to larger stages and multiple dates.

Q. If our band is not chosen for one date then should we keep applying?
A. We will continue to consider entries up to 6 months. Our program needs may change based on who we secure as our headlining act. While your bands sound may not flow best with one event, it may fit perfectly with the following event.

Q. How long does the sign-up process stay open?
A. The sign-up process usually ends around two weeks before the festival date, but sometimes we close it down earlier if we think we’ve already found our bands.

Q. When are the chosen bands announced?
A. We start announcing bands at random. All the bands are announced before the festival starts.

Q. How will we know if we got picked?
A. You will get an email or a phone call from one of the festival coordinators. We will also post news on the GEM Fest site letting everyone know when the application is closed, and when we have started contacting bands. You can also, check your Sonic Bids Submission status update page.

Q. What is the most important factor you consider when you are choosing bands?
A. Honestly, it changes from band to band. Sometimes it’s based only on music, sometimes it’s based only on work ethic, but mostly it’s a combination of both.

Q. Do opening GEM Fest bands get paid?
A. We usually don’t offer guarantees, but this is determined on a case by case basis and we do let bands keep 100% of their merch sales.
